Ever since the 2000 presidential election, skeptics across America have qualified their thoughts on current events with the caveat, ?I?m not a conspiracy theorist, but . . .? Buzzflash contributor Peggy Brunton is the latest nonbeliever to postulate a series of unlikely coincidences that could add up to a considerable political windfall. In her recent Buzzflash commentary, Brunton examines the possibility that the Supreme Court?s verdicts opposing anti-sodomy laws in Texas and upholding affirmative action at the University of Michigan are ?an early manifestation of the Bush campaign?s 2004 campaign strategy.? As outrageous as her theory may seem, her arguments are compelling?especially the one about making Democrats warning of ?the bogeyman of far-right Supreme Court domination? appear ?foolishly alarmist.?
